May 6th 2014 marks the 60th anniversary of Sir Roger Bannister becoming the first man to break the fabled four-minute mile on the Iffley Road track.
Since that day in 1954, Sir Roger has had a distinguished career as a neurologist, providing insights into the autonomic nervous system.
The former medical student of Exeter and Merton colleges later become Master of Pembroke College and has retained his close links to the University throughout his life.
